Very good. The barrel has an aged patina and the metal surfaces have a smooth mottled gray patina. The bayonet has been cleaned at some time and is a smooth silver gray with some fine pitting. The stock has been period varnished and remains very good with a few scattered minor dents and dings. The checkering, which was probably done at the time of the conversion, remains crisp. The markings and engraving are clear. The action is fine.
