Wonderful Mahogany Three Drawer Work Stand. This is a great example of a work table from the Federal period. This piece dates to circa 1815. Constructed of mahogany with poplar secondaries and having three work drawers each with book matched, crotch grain veneers above a lyre shaped base ending in original brass hairy paw feet. The writing surface on the top most drawer appears to be original. There are also elelements of the original paper liner to the center sewing bag - which has been professionally reupholstered. There exists a dowel on one of the legs indicating an old repair that we did not notice on initial inspection. Overall, this is an exceptional example of a perdiod wrok stand. Very sturdy. Very attractive. Likely Massachusetts origin. Measuring 28 1/2" high by 19 1/2" (leaves open 36") wide by 18" deep.
