August 22, 1822.The document reads, in part: “ … IN pursuance of the provisions of the second section of an Act, entitled ‘An Act in further addition to an Act, entitled and Act for regulating, governing, and training the Militia of this Commonwealth,’ passed the 21st day of February, 1822, for establishing an UNIFORM for the Militia, THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF Orders …” The document goes on to specify the regulations regarding uniforms for various ranks of militiamen. Included are “LIGHT INFANTRY,” “GRENADIERS,” “SEA FENCIBLES,” “RIFLEMEN,” and “MUSICIANS.” Usual folds. Overall Very Fine.
