Massachusetts Civilian Letter Union Cousin 1862 Boston
Letter from a civilian to his Union soldier cousin. Datelined ''E. Boston Apr. 20 /62,'' letter reads in part: ''...Cousin Ed: I rec'd your favor of the 10th about a week ago. I was sorry to hear that you had all been unwell, but am glad that you have all regained your health. There isn't much news now except what we get from the seat of war. Business is pretty dull, and it seems a good deal like Sunday all the week round. But I think it is improving some. How did you hear that I was tending in an Apothecary shop? Tis true I held forth during vacation in a friend's shop, but not with a view to adopt it as my business wanted to get a little insight in it, for perhaps it might come handy one of these odd days. But I am now spending the present term at College at home. I am kept pretty busy most of the time or should have answered your letter before this...'' 2pp. ink letter measures 3.75'' x 6''. Scattered soiling and foxing, otherwise near fine condition.
