Massachusetts August 18, 1775 40s PCGS Very Fine 30. A nice mid-grade example of this rare and extraordinarily popular Massachusetts issue. The note was engraved entirely by Colonial forefather Paul Revere, and it was also printed by him. The act date of the note is just four months to the day after Revere's famous ride. The printing on both sides is razor sharp, and the fully present signatures are in three different color inks, as was intended by the issuing authority. The vignette of the Continental soldier with his raised sword in his right hand and the Magna Charta in his left, is one of the most evocative designs of the Revolutionary period. This is one of the finer examples we have seen of this issue. In fact in our many years, we have auctioned only one example that is graded higher. This is a beautiful, historic and rare piece of Colonial Currency.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
