Mass Arms .36 cal. 5-shot revolver with 6" octagon barrel, made on Adam's patent showing old re-blued finish, and frame blown and repaired during period of use. The patent markings on each side of the frame are mostly visible, the edges fairly sharp, the action is not working; the grips are good with a few small chips and losses, normal wear. The front sight is an old replacement, the interior is remarkably good, the originalramrod is retained. The butt cap is script inscribed "Colonel C. W. Sears, 46th Miss. Regt.". The engraving is slightly crude and we cannot authenticate it as it also has been cleaned slightly in that area. However, we will say it was found in a Louisiana collection, and the collector who owned it did not even recall the inscription. No serial number visible. Approximately 1,000 made during the Civil War, and 600 bought byU. S. Forces. Refer Fladerman, 7a-062. Est.: $400-$800
