Wife of King George V, Queen Consort of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions and Empress of India (1867–1953). Beautiful matte-finish 6 x 8.25 full-length photograph portrait of Queen Mary in an informal pose holding a flower posey, affixed to a 7.5 x 9.5 mount, boldly signed in ink, "Mary, 1911." Displayed in an ornate gilt 8.75 x 11 frame. In fine condition.

Originally betrothed to Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence and Avondale and eldest son of King Edward VII, the year following Albert’s loss to pneumonia she became engaged to his brother, George—who would ultimately become King George V. Prior to George being crowned King, Mary was also, in succession, Duchess of York, Duchess of Cornwall and Princess of Wales.

After King George V's death in 1936, she became queen mother when her eldest son, Edward VIII, was crowned—however (and much to Mary’s disgust) Edward abdicated in order to marry American socialite divorcee Wallis Simpson. Her second son became King George VI and she supported him until his death in 1952. She died the following year, during the reign of her granddaughter Elizabeth II, who had not yet been crowned.
