Second wife of Benjamin Harrison, she married the widowed president after he left office. ALS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 6.75, black-bordered personal letterhead, Mare Island, California, February 24. Letter to John Cullen Bryant. In part: “The woodcut you enclosed me of myself is from a photograph taken in 1892. The best photographs of myself were taken in Indianapolis in 1897, and if you will write to Kitchell’s Studio…they will furnish you with the one I consider best, and you can enclose my card, as they are not allowed to sell my photographs without my permission. They also have an excellent photograph of General Harrison.” In fine condition. Accompanied by a black-bordered visiting card, referenced in the letter, with Harrison writing, “Mr. Nicholson at Kitchell’s Studio. You have my permission to sell to Mr. John Cullen Bryant of Haverhill, Mass, one of my photographs.”
