An American born artist, Farl Powers came to Ireland in 1951 and studied art at Dún Laoghaire College of Art and later the National College of Art and Design. In the year this work was executed she joined the Graphic Studio Dublin where she first focused on etching, later moving into other art forms. She widely exhibited and received many accolades for her work, and was a member of Aosdána until her death in 1992.
