(Walt Disney Studios, 1953) Stunning original concept painting by Mary Blair of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Wendy, Michael, and John soaring over London en route to the island of Neverland. Accomplished in tempera on 10.25 x 9.5 artist’s board, the scene vividly portrays the moment that Peter and Tinker Bell teach the Darling children to fly, leading them on a starry night flight around Big Ben, which emerges from the London fog. The characters are shadows set against the dark night sky in this brilliantly executed scene, the landscape illuminated by a full moon, the warm glow of Big Ben's clock, the twinkle of distant stars, and the flickering burst of a fairy leading the way. In fine condition, with tack holes to corners.

Blair was a concept artist for Disney during the 1940s and early 1950s, working on designs for such films as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. She also created designs for several Disney attractions (including It's a Small World), and her largest work, the multi-story mosaic in Disney World's Contemporary Hotel concourse.
