(Walt Disney Studios, 1951) Terrific original concept storyboard painting by Mary Blair for Alice in Wonderland, which depicts Alice and the White Rabbit as they run through a tunnel and series of strange doorways, a scene reminiscent of when Alice chases after the rabbit at the start of the film. Blair paints cleverly here, changing the tones and patterns in each room passed through by the two characters—one bewildered, the other quite pleased—in a manner that embodies the confusing and colorful one-way trip to Wonderland. Accomplished in tempera and watercolor on a 9.25 x 8.25 illustration board. In fine condition, with trivial scuffing and tack holes to corners. A brilliantly realized concept piece highlighted by two iconic Disney characters.

Blair was a concept artist for Disney during the 1940s and early 1950s, working on designs for such films as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. She also created designs for several Disney attractions, including It's a Small World and, her largest work ever, the multi-story mosaic in Disney World's Contemporary Hotel concourse.
