Mary A. Livermore Woman's Suffrage Ribbon
Mary A. Livermore Woman's Suffrage Ribbon. Formed in association with noted Suffragette, Lucy Stone, Mary Livermore was the President of the American Woman's Suffrage Association. The splinter group was formed as an alternative to Susan B. Anthony's National Woman's Suffrage Association. Offered here is an 8.5" ribbon with bar pin that makes reference to the "Circle", a group of women reporters and writers who wrote to local newspapers all over the country in an effort to push Woman's Suffrage. Livermore also founded and was the first President of the Illinois Woman's Suffrage Association in 1869. This silk ribbon is undoubtedly from one of the conventions in the mid to late 19th century. Here it is presented for auction in excellent condition.
