Marx, Robert F. THE VOYAGE OF THE NINA II. World Publishing Company, New York. 1963. 12mo. (2), 249, (4) pages. Original green cloth, lettered in gilt and red, jacket. Signed by the author. Map endpages. 56 b&w historical photos. Jacket edges worn, Very Good. Book Fine. In December 1962 Columbus's ship the Ni a arrived triumphantly at San Salvador from Spain-for the second time. The forty-two-foot ship was the Ni a II, an authentic replica of the original caravel, manned by a crew of nine using only fifteenth-century equipment and the foods Columbus had taken, in order to re-create the first voyage of the Atlantic. This book is a chronicle of this daring exploit and is based on the log kept by Robert Marx, the ship's navigator and the only American aboard. Lot weight: 1 lbs 3oz. Subject(s): Maritime History.
