Marvin Gaye 1964 Vancouver, B.C. Concert Poster Listing Four Classic Hits.A beautiful boxing-style concert poster for Motown legend Marvin Gaye plus two other Motown artists up in New Westminster, British Columbia (a Vancouver suburb) on Saturday night, May 23, 1964.

The terrific graphics on this window card, including the amazing, bright florescent pink, are greatly augmented by the titles of Marvin's career hit singles #2-5 in the early 60's: "Hitch Hike," "Pride and Joy," "Can I Get a Witness" and his latest, "You're a Wonderful One," shortened a bit for this poster. Later on this year, all he would do is release "How Sweet It Is to Be Loved By You."

So it's not exactly a Motortown Revue poster, but yes, the two opening acts were both Motown Records labelmates of Marvin's. The Spinners are a rare example of "one that got away" from Berry Gordy, Jr. "That's What Girls Are Made For" was a Top 5 RB hit for another label, but when the Spinners signed to Motown, not much happened. They would later explode with success in the 1970's for Atlantic. And Hattie Littles, despite being called the "New Queen of the Blues," never gained career traction. Bigger than your standard 14" x 22", this poster measures 16" x 24" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.
