<B>Marvel Mystery Comics #4 (Timely, 1940) CGC FR/GD 1.5 Off-white to white pages.</B></I> The first cover appearance of the Sub-Mariner was, shockingly enough, not until issue #4 of the title he starred in! He took a back seat not only to the Human Torch but also the Angel (#2 and #3) before that. Alex Schomburg's cover is notable not only for being one of his earliest for the Timely line (which had only existed for a few months) but also for being only the second comic book cover to show a Nazi swastika. To boot, only seven unrestored copies of the issue appear on census. For such a significant book, the Guide value seems low! CGC notes, "Front and back cover completely split." Overstreet 2006 GD 2.0 value = $1,111.
