Martin von Molitor (1759-1812 Vienna), attributed to, Travellers in a lightly wooded landscape, brush and brown and grey wash, on paper, 16.8 x 24.1 cm, mounted and framed, laid down on a support, mintuely stained, (GL). While the repoussoir motif of the tree on the left-hand side of the present drawing is reminiscent of Pynacker, the loose treatment in the area of the road makes one think of Ruysdael. However, the light rendering of the foliage in the background and the manner in which the view is directed towards the horizon in the far distance already show the influence of the upcoming period of Romanticism. Later on, Molitor worked closer to nature, executing his drawings on the very spot. EURO 700 900 US $ 690 880
