Scalloped-top vellum partly printed DS, signed as president, “M. Van Buren,” one page, 11.5 x 15, September 27, 1839. A ship’s pass issued to the “Brig Meridian of Wareham [Massachusetts], James Harvey Ricketson, master or commander of the burthen of 72 & 89/95 tons or thereabouts mounted with no guns navigated with 16 men.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, scattered light toning and soiling, and mild creases and wrinkles. The original paper seal is slightly worn but fully intact.
