ALS signed “M. Van Buren,” one page both sides, 8 x 9.75, June 20, 1829. Letter to Secretary of War John Eaton. In part: “Major Sproult of New York is a candidate for the Superintendent of the Armory at Harpers Ferry, I certainly hope it will be in your power to gratify him. The recommendations he has submitted render it almost superfluous that I should add anything on the score of his merits and capacity.” Second integral page bears an address panel in Van Buren's hand, and both pages are archivally sleeved in acid-free Mylar. In fine condition, with intersecting folds, with vertical folds through two letters of signature, and some scattered light toning, and second page shows light edge remnants from having been professionally inlaid. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
