Collection of material related to King’s acceptance of the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize, including: a small booklet of King’s ‘Nobel Lecture’ printed by Harper & Row in a limited edition of 2,000 copies “for distribution to friends of the House and of Dr. King”; two invitation cards from the ambassador of the United States to Norway for an informal buffet and a reception in honor of King to be held at the Villa Otium ambassador’s residence in Oslo; two cards in Norwegian, one for the Nobel ceremony on December 10, 1964, and one for King’s Nobel Prize lecture on the next day; a program in Norwegian for the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony on December 10; a carbon copy of the typed welcoming statement issued to the traveling party; a printed typescript of King’s acceptance statement; and a Western Union telegram from Dorothy I. Height to Marian Bruce, thanking her for being an ambassador for the National Council of Negro Women in the mission to Oslo. In overall fine condition.
