Martin Liebscher is well-known for his large-scale panoramic pictures created with digital montages

The large-format panorama photography with the title ‘LIEBSCHER WERKE’ from the year 2001 is a work by Martin Liebscher. The photograph was taken in Frankfurt am Main and shows a city scene at night. Through the applied photo montage the street views seems at first sight an abstract, wavy area, which only gains in depth after viewing it from a distance.



The lambda print is laminated on Alu-Dibond and sealed with PVC foil. The surface shows soiling on the upper left. Both corners on the right are slightly bumped. The photograph is besides that in good condition. The dimensions are 70 x 280 cm.



Martin Liebscher (b. 1964)

Martin Liebscher studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main in the classes of Martin Kippenberger and Thomas Bayrle, whose master pupil he became in 1996. In 1993, he also studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. In 1995, he obtained a world record for the longest group photo of the world. He was awarded the German Photo Book Prize in 2010. Since 2007, he is a professor of photography at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach. In 2009, he opened the exhibition space ‘HfG Offenbach: Berlin’, where students of the HfG Offenbach can stay for a month and exhibit their work. Liebscher uses digital image processing to integrate portraits of himself in different poses into certain settings. The artist has taken part in a number of solo and group exhibitions. (tm)
