Novelist, travel writer, and journalist (1908-1998), considered to be one of the greatest war correspondents of the 20th century. She was also the third wife of American novelist Ernest Hemingway, from 1940 to 1945. TLS, one page, 8 x 10, personal letterhead, no date. Letter of invitation to a couple. In part: “If you and Mrs. F. will like to walk over for a glass of sherry on Sunday before lunch, say at noon, that would be splendid. I’m off to the U.S. on Monday and you might find yourself at the tail end of a consultation with a painter who is going to fix my sitting room in my absence.” Intersecting folds, with central horizontal fold through signature, and a few light creases and wrinkles, otherwise fine condition.
