Novelist, travel writer, and journalist (1908-1998), considered to be one of the greatest war correspondents of the 20th century. She was also the third wife of American novelist Ernest Hemingway, from 1940 to 1945. TLS, one page, 8 x 10, personal letterhead, October 24. Letter to Mr. Felker. In part: “I am mad about this idea; I adore it. I’ll stay at the Hotel Florida where we all stayed (war correspondents and whores) which I imagine is a sort of 4th rate commercial traveler’s hotel now. If I can possibly find him in Paris, I’ll get in touch with the only still living old time Communist I know, who still might have some contacts in Spain…I used to know a real nouveau riche shit in Madrid and he’s probably still around…The Fascist side should be no trouble.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, mild toning, and the original mailing envelope stapled to reverse of letter.
