<B>Marquis de Lafayette Wooden Box,</B></I> 2.5" diameter, 1" deep, ca. 19th century. This small lidded box is crafted of highly figured polished wood and is lined with what appears to be tortoise shell. The lid's top is inset with a gold-colored medallion showing Lafayette's profile bust as he appeared during his famed 1824 tour of the United States. The lid has a small circular defect on the rim and is otherwise in excellent condition.
