Marlin model 1895 saddle-ring carbine, .45-70 caliber, standard wood stocks, serial #138421. The carbine remains in near fine original condition showing 85-95% original blue on barrel and magazine tube with some normal wear and aging and some dried grease that may clean and some just beginning light erosion at the breech. The frame shows 80-90% case hardening just darkening slightly with bright colors showing throughout the entire surface of the frame, tang, onto the lever, and hammer which is darker. There are a few marks from the saddle-ring. The stocks are very good plus to near fine with just some slight aging. The markings are sharp, the edges are crisp, the loading gate shows 90% bright blue. The action is tight, the bore is excellent. A very fine Marlin that would improved with removal of old grease. Seldom encountered in .45-70 with a high amount of original finish remaining. Est: $12,000 - $16,000
