Marlin model 1894 saddle-ring carbine, .44-40 caliber, unique factory gold and platinum inlaid American flag, blued finish, select walnut stocks, serial #292666. This carbine remained at the factory from 1904 to 1915 and was intended for exhibition purposes, and no record of it ever being sold in the factory records. It is listed five times from 1907 to 1915 in the dealer’s bargain sheet where it is fully described. The left side of thereceiver shows the aforementioned gold and platinum American flag which is the 1777 pattern showing 13 stars. It is believed that the carbine was made for the Louis and Clark centennial exposition in St. Louis and mayhave been used in other factory exhibitions or on display at the factory. This carbine was part of the display which one best of show in Denver, 2004, where the Marlin Firearms Collectors Association held theirshow. The carbine remains in fne to excellent original condition showing 95% plus original factory bright blue finish, some slight thinning at the edges and just beginning natural aging.
