Marlin model 1881 lever action rifle, .45-70 caliber, early production series with rebated frame, #113. 28" octagon barrel, full magazine, standard shotgun butt with iron buttplate. The rifle remains in good to very good conditionshowing 30-50% blue on barrel drifting to patina. Magazine has mostly drifted to patina. Frame has gone to a light greyish with a trace of blue in protected areas. There is some scattered light erosion and surface pitting just starting.Markings are good, edges good, a few marks on the rear of the bolt. The stock shows a nice grain and is good with some small dings, mars, slight imperfections and normal use. The action is good, the bore is very good plus to near fine. Adifficult 81 to fine with the squared off front edge, or rebate, and it would be difficult to find a lower number. Est: $2,750 - $5,500
