Marlin Model 1893 Lever Action Takedown Rifle
Manufactured circa 1895. This was the first Marlin designed for the then new smokeless powder. German silver blade front and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sights with the standard two line address/patent marking on the top flat ahead of the rear sight and "38-55" at the breech. Tang mounted short range peep sight, casehardened lever, hammer, buttplate and receiver marked "MARLIN SAFETY" on the top of the receiver and mounted with a checkered forearm with steel forend cap and pistol grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel retains 75% original thin blue finish with areas of smooth plum patina. The magazine tube retains 60% of the original blue finish with the balance having a smooth brown patina. The receiver retains 40% original faded case colors with a smooth silver gray on the balance. The lever shows some original case colors in protected areas and most of the original casehardening pattern remains. The buttplate has a smooth brownish gray patina. The wood is very good with some scattered minor dings and dents, with a small indention on the front tip of the comb from the peep sight, and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
