Engraved antique lever action repeating rifle chambered in .38-40 Winchester, manufactured in New Haven, CT circa 1892. Configuration: Blued finish, 24” octagonal barrel, full-length tube magazine, Rocky Mountain front sight with German silver blade, elevation adjustable flat-top rear sporting sight, tang mounted Lyman Combination Peep sight, smooth trigger, case hardened hammer with knurled spur, Ulrich #1 pattern engraving on the receiver featuring foliate arabesque patterns & whitetail buck on a mountain scene on the left side, curved case hardened finger lever, grip safety, nicely figured American walnut forend with diamond pattern checkering & steel cap, and serpentine grip shoulder stock with crescent metal buttplate & 13” LOP. Matching serial numbers are found on the bottom of the receiver, on the left side of upper tang and in the top tang channel of buttstock. Includes a document from the Cody Firearms Record Office and a photo of the leger page from Marlin records both stating the rifle is a model 1889 in 38 caliber with 24” octagon barrel & pistol grip stock that shipped 11.26.1892. Rifle retains approximately 20% thinned bluing with some bright bluing & vivid case colors preserved in the protected areas and the remained of the metal surfaces displaying an aged brown patina. Action is smooth, the bore shows good luster & rifling with scattered pitting and the refinished wood stocks are good with 1.5” crack on the right side of the buttstock near the toe. Condition is near NRA Fine. ***Antique Firearm***
