Lever action rifle manufactured circa 1892. Highly Engraved, marked with the symbol of retired master engraver, Peter M. Kretzmann of Flagstaff AZ (an accomplished engraver who has been featured in Volume II of R.L. Wilson's "The Colt Engraving Book"). Features 24" octagon barrel, Beach front sight, mid barrel dovetail (filled with blank), Marble's folding tang peep sight, walnut forend & straight wrist shoulder stock with floral pattern relief carving, crescent steel buttplate. Bore is fair to good condition, dull and lightly frosted, strong rifling, some darkness in grooves, visible ring or bulge mid-barrel. Metal surfaces display an even dull silvery gray color, with some small discoloration spots from patina, dents to edges of barrel flats. Wood is very good with some oil staining near buttplate, forend is slightly loose. Engraving is floral pattern scrolls, with Bison on left side of receiver, dragon's head incorporated into pattern on right side of receiver. Engraving is found on breech end of barrel, all around receiver, and on buttplate. Included factory letter confirms basic configuration, notes & correspondence from the engraver.
