Marlin Model 1881 lever action large frame rifle, .40 cal., 28” octagon barrel, full magazine; standard metal shotgun type butt in good condition, #13899. The barrel and magazine tube show 60%-80% original blue finish drifting to apatina; some light erosion and surface pitting; good sharp edges, sharp barrel address; original rear sight; old brass blade sight set into original front sight base; the frame shows 20%-30% thinning blue and a few areas of erosion andpitting; the stocks are good with a light coating of varnish, no sanding and three “kill” notches cut into the front of the comb long ago; the action is good, the bore is good. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
