Marlin Model 1881 de-luxe rifle with 28” octagon barrel, full magazine, select wood pistol gripped stock, .40 caliber, serial number 36382. The barrel shows 50% to 70% original blue evenly thinning and drifting to a natural patina and the markings are good and sharp. The magazine tube has drifted to patina with traces of finish. The frame shows traces of blue where protected and a brown patina with some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The stocks are good to very good with sharp checkering and some minor scratches with a light coating of old varnish but no sanding. The inside of the tang behind the trigger shows initials I or H and A. There is a later Lyman type tang sight that has been added. The barrel sight and front sight are original. The action is good and the bore is good and still bright. Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
