Marlin Ballard single shot No. 2 Sporting rifle, .22 cal., 24” octagon barrel, wood stocks, #29781 in overall good to very good condition showing considerable muted blue finish mixed in with brown patina on thebarrel and traces of case color on the receiver mixed in with silver toning; the action is good as are the markings; there are the initials “JCD” inscribed on the left side of the falling block of the breech andthe wood is overall very good with some scattered old mars and scratches from carry and storage; the bore is fair to good with some erosion near the breech; the extractor is internal, not external as would beexpected with a Marlin Ballard No. 3 Gallery rifle which offered the .22 caliber and the 24” barrel not routinely offered in the No. 2 Sporter (per 2012 Standard Catalog of Firearms)?
