Marlin Ballard number 4 “Perfection”, .32-40 caliber rifle, 30” octagon barrel, blue and case hardened finish, standard varnish stocks 26904. The rifle remains in orig. near fine condition showing 90-95% original blue on barrel thinning at high points and edges, some light erosion and normal aging just starting. The frame shows 50-70% original case hardening, drifting to light silvery grey, but still rainbow colors showing over the entire surface with some areas of bright colors mixed in. The rifle is mounted with a mid-range vernier type tang sight. There is a blank in the rear dove tail and a beech front sight. The rifle shows a medium weight octagon barrel, and the varnish wood stocks are very good plus with approx. 75-85% original varnish, some minor marks and even losses. The butt plate shows traces of case hardening with some minor erosion and pinprick pitting. The action is good, the bore is near excellent.
