Marlin Ballard customized single shot rifle, .28-30-120 caliber, 27-7/8” medium weight octagon barrel of modern manufacture which is unmarked. Action number “3072”. Shows modern double set triggers, Schuetzen type buttstock of modern manufacture with Schuetzen butt. Blue and case hardened finish. The barrel is mounted with blocks for scope. The quality of the workmanship is fine to excellent. The case hardening is of proper 19th century style and colors, possibly Creekside or Turnbull. The stocks are nicely made and show good grain. The rifle, though unmarked, shows quality throughout. The action is tight, the bore is excellent. Consignor notes indicate the Stevens Pope mold used for this rifle is Lot# 412. Est.: $1,250-$2,500.
