Barrel .32-40 SN: 19684 'Ballard No. 6 Schutzen' Antique single shot falling block target rifle chambered in .32-40 Ballard, manufactured circa 1881-1891. Features a 30" Stevens-Pope heavy octagon barrel #566 with "21/141" stamp & provisions for scope mounting, globe font sight with aperture insert & retaining clip, tang mounted Stevens No. 110 Wind-Gauge Vernier peep sight, case hardened receiver with factory engraved deer scenes surrounded by L. D. Nimschke style scroll, double set triggers, curved finger lever, point checkered fancy Circassian walnut forend with schnabel tip & detachable palm rest and fancy checkered pistol grip perch belly Schuetzen shoulder stock with right handed cheek rest & brass Swiss style buttplate. Includes a false muzzle numbered to the barrel "566". The front face of the receiver is stamped "S". The barrel retains approximately 85% of it's original blued finish showing edge wear, some thinning on the underside and a small amount of oxidation. The case colors on the receiver are mostly present with exhibits some muting on the left flat and some patina evident on the right flat. Action is smooth, the bore is excellent besides a shallow dark ring approximately 1" from the muzzle and the fancy walnut stocks are very good with some minor storage/use dings. ***Newly Discovered*** This lot is accompanied by a spare shoulder stock, a powder measurer w/ wall mount, primer seater/removal tool, bullet mold, box of wax sticks, Dupont Superfine FF Gunpowder tin, brass table fixture and oiler bottle. Additionally this rifle was featured on the cover of January-February 1977 issue of Handloader Magazine with most of the accessories listed above.
