A) These matching flintlock pistols were made by John Twigg of London. The pistols have part octagon barrels with a sun burst on the forward upper three flats and engraved "Twigg LONDON" on the top flat. Blade front and dovetailed fixed rear sights. The barrel tang is engraved with a floral scroll design and zigzag border. The lock is marked "Twigg" and is fitted with a sliding hammer safety. The trigger guard and ram rod ferrules are hallmarked sterling silver with a floral design engraved on the trigger guard and four hallmarks behind the trigger guard. Mounted with a full walnut stock with a raised relief carved clam shell design on top of wrist behind the barrel tang. Complete with a wooden ram rod with horn tip.

Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have a mottled silver gray patina with some minor pitting on the barrel. The sterling silver has an attractive dark aged patina. The stock is also good with a 2 inch pieced in repair on the left side of the forend and scattered minor dents and dings. The flats and carving remain sharp. The markings are readable. The action is excellent.

Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have a mottled gray patina with some minor pitting on the barrel. The sterling silver has an attractive dark aged patina. The stock is also good with a minor 1 inch crack on the left flat and overall some minor dings and dents. The flats and carving remain sharp. The barrel markings are faint but readable, the lock marking is clear. The action is excellent.
