Two TLSs: a one-page, 8.5 x 11 letter on The Citadel letterhead, June 11, 1976. Mark W. Clark lists the two books he wrote and comments on retired life. In part: “I know how difficult it is to pass the time when one is not continuously occupied. I’m going through that as well, for I was 80 on the 1st of May. I also, unfortunately, had to have a pacemaker put into my heart, so I have been laid up.”; and a one-page 7.25 x 10.25 letter on personal letterhead, January 12, 1979. Matthew Ridgway also recommends two books he wrote and comments on his career. In part: “I was privileged beyond words to have the opportunities which came to me in high command, particularly in combat in Europe and Asia.” In overall fine condition, with expected handling wear and light offset of type to Clark’s letter. Accompanied by both original mailing envelopes.
