Mark Twain Signed ''Innocents''
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Beautifully signed ''The Innocents Abroad or The New Pilgrims' Progress'' by S.L. Clemens, a.k.a. Mark Twain. The American Publishing Company: Hartford: 1899. Very unusually signed on the limitation page with both his real name, ''S.L. Clemens'' and his pseudonym ''(Mark Twain)''. This is number 158 of the autograph edition of his works, of which 512 copies were published; and Volume I of the 25 volume set. Octavo half-leather hardcover with marbled boards, five raised bands and gilt titling. 377pp. illustrated. A very good copy, with its front hinge cracked, but holding by original ties. Rear hinge has dried, light signs of drying and flaking to leather at spine, and small chip to head of spine. Interior is in excellent condition, being clean, bright and unmarked. All plates and tissue guards present. A lovely addition to one's American authors collection.
