<B>Samuel L. Clemens [Mark Twain] Signed Hotel Register.</B></I> Sheet clipped from a hotel's guest register, 11" x 7.5", likely Missouri, ca. late 19th century. "<I>Saml L Clemens</B></I>" appears at the top of the list, which includes "Buckskin Joe"-- a musician, storyteller and general Wild West entertainer of the day. Joe, born Edward Jonathan Hoyt, advertises "<I>To night at Hall</B></I>" in lieu of giving a home address. Clemens places Hartford, Connecticut beside his name. The remaining seven guests listed all give Missouri home addresses. Light soiling as expected of a register, else fine condition. Professionally matted in an ornate wooden frame along with a name plate and likeness of Mark Twain. Overall 18.25" x 20.5".
