Osgood and Company, 1883), first edition, first state, with both true first state points present: (1) page 441: present is a tail-piece depicting an urn, flames, head of Mark Twain, in subsequent states removed at the request of Mrs. Clemens who considered it morbid and (2) page 443: caption reads “THE ST. LOUIS HOTEL”, in subsequent states corrected to "The St. Charles Hotel", 624 pages, full sheepskin period binding, marbled paper on the front and rear pastedowns with no corresponding endpapers as bound, gilt titles on red morocco spine label, marbled edges, 8vo (6” x 9”), front hinge just starting to crack, corners rubbed to boards, spine darkened with age, old repairs to spine and hinges, small chip to sheepskin on front board, uniform darkening to boards, else a sound copy, tight and in near very good condition.<BR><BR><BR><b>Shipping:</b> Books & Catalogs (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.heritageauctions.com/common/shipping.php">view shipping information</a>)
