Inspired teacher and lecturer (1802–1887), the author of many books on morality and religion. ALS, one page, 5 x 8, January 8, 1886. Letter to an unidentified gentleman declining a request. In part: “It is not pleasant to say no, to a request thus urged, but I am daily occupied in college work here that taxes my time and strength, and at my age I do not feel that I can do much incidental work of the kind you call for.” In fine condition, with a bit of light edge toning.
