Marjorie White Autographed Original Studio Photo
Marjorie White Autographed Original Studio Photo in the early days of Hollywood, stunningly beautiful women rarely were given the chance to become full-out comedic actresses. Perhaps the most famous, who is credited with blazing the trail for a multitude of actresses to come, is the much loved Marjorie White. Starring as a child actresses on stage and Vaudeville, she moved to New York, where she found immediate work in Broadway musicals, and then was invited to Hollywood where she was immediately noticed in the classic Charlie Chan movie "The Black Camel". She was taken in by the Three Stooges who had just left Ted Haley and were starting out on their own at Columbia Studios. They got her the part , and she starred as Larry Fine's wife, Mary, in their very first short "Woman Haters" (1934). So impressed was studio head Harry Cohen, that he had plans for her to make many more Stooge shorts, and then move on to a feature film career. However, tragically, that would be her last film, since only months later she was killed in a car accident in Santa Monica. Although her years in Hollywood only spanned five years, she continues to have an enormous following. Because her career was cut so short, original studio photos of hers, especially personally autographed are virtually non-existent. This is one of them signed in 1934. It shows normal signs of patina aging, but otherwise is in excellent condition. A true collectable for White fans, and especially for Three Stooges Collector throughout the world. (Photo is 8"x10").
