Partly-printed document, one page, 17 x 21.25, August 5, 1843. Shipping document outlining rules for the seamen on board a ship, including “no profane language allowed on board” and “no grog allowed.” In part: “It is agreed, Between the Masters, Seamen, or Mariners, of the Bark Elvira of Boston, whereof Saml. Graves is at present Master, or whoever shall go for Master, now bound from the Port of New York, to Gibraltar, and Malaga, and back to the United States.” A crew roster is filled out below and approved by a customs officer. In very good condition.
