Mario Ceroli (born 1938)

Mario Ceroli studied under the direction of Leoncillo Leonardi and Pericle Fazzini at the Academy in Rome and was initially focused on ceramic sculptures. In the sixties he was influenced by the pop art and works by Louise Nevelson and Joe Tilson. In this time he experimented with different materials; so among other things, his famous silhouettes of wood originated. Ceroli used frequent in his works quotations from famous works of the past and has had numerous solo and group exhibitions.
