Shipping scene watercolor by English painter Charles John De Lacy (c.1860-1936). De Lacy was born in Sunderland, England, trained as an engineer and served in the Royal Navy before taking his artistic training at Lambeth, South Kensington and the National Gallery. He started out as an illustrator and eventually made his name as a painter of Thames river shipping scenes, ocean commerce, marine views and battle portraits. This watercolor is signed on the lower right and dated 1908. Please note that it was photographed behind the frame's glass which accounts for reflections. In good used condition as show.
