Original vintage cocktail napkin from Joe DiMaggio’s restaurant on Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, measuring 4.5 x 8.5 unfolded, with the DiMaggio restaurant logo on the upper portion of the napkin, and boldly signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint on the lower half, “To Mary Ann, Best wishes, Marilyn Monroe.” Ornately triple-suede-matted and framed four great photos of Monroe to an overall size of 39 x 36. In fine condition, with old tape reinforcement to the fold of the napkin. DiMaggio and his family opened a restaurant in 1937 on San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf after his rookie season with the New York Yankees, originally called Joe DiMaggio’s Grotto. Run by DiMaggio’s father, all three brothers took part in the business, with Joe there much of the time welcoming guests. An incredibly rare offering, as the relatively short duration of her relationship with DiMaggio, makes any item associated with the famous couple very desirable.
