Signed book: Marilyn: A Biography. Later printing. NY: Grosset & Dunlap, Inc., 1973. Hardcover with dustjacket, 9.5 x 11, 270 pages. Signed in blue ballpoint on the half-title page, “To Jim Dougherty, who I hope, on balance, will find this book fair. Sincerely, Norman Mailer.” Dougherty, Monroe’s first husband when she was simply Norma Jeane, has then signed the title page in black felt tip, “To Brenda, Jim Dougherty, XX.” In fine condition, with faint soiling to the edges of the title page, a very faint impression of Mailer’s inscription showing through to the title page, and some soiling to the front and back cover. The dustjacket has surface creasing, scratching, and staining.
