Kane then added two sidebar montages to complement the drawing, and the result is the terrific piece offered here, probably one of the only <B>Alter Ego</B></I> covers ever to come to public auction. The Kane portrait was penciled on textured paper, and then cut-and-pasted onto the larger layout sheet. The right montage panel (including Kane's signature) is unfortunately a stat, but the actual artwork is intact beneath the stat (it seems to have been statted to move it down slightly, to improve the composition), though probably glue-stained. The logo and all text is original. A true piece of comic fan-history, and a wonderful piece of art to boot. Excellent condition overall, with moderate-to-heavy use of white-out (especially in the Kane caricature), and some discoloration. Measures 11" x 16", with an image area of 8.5" x 11.5". <B>Estimate: $1,500-up</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
