French operatic soprano (1846–1926) especially celebrated for her interpretation of the title role in Bizet's Carmen. Original 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo by Mora of New York, signed in the lower border in black ink, identifying her character as Helen from Faust. Also signed and inscribed on the reverse to a gentleman, and dated London, 1881. Light toning and soiling to the mount, slight silvering to dark areas of the image, and scattered marks and pencil notations to reverse, otherwise fine condition.
