Signed book: The Life Story of an Ugly Duckling. First edition, first printing. NY: Robert M. McBride & Company, 1924. Hardcover, 6 x 8.5, 234 pages. Signed and inscribed in fountain pen on the half-title page, “Dear Mr. Mantle, Help & hope you will like it.” This book was given to famed drama critic Burns Mantle. In very good condition, with light toning to the page, Mantle’s ownership bookplate affixed to the front board, the last page removed with separation to the back board, and soiling to the cover.
